You should read these troubleshooting tips if you’re getting a Windows setup error with the shortfilenames property.
Setting the SHORTFILENAMES property means that short initial names are used for large file names, and longer ones for long ones. This does not affect the filename setter that looks at the source code.
Long names are used by the engineer when the SHORTFILENAMES property is actually set and the target volume can support long names. Short names are generated by the installer if the target volume does not always support names.
If the SHORTFILENAMES property is set, the installer part creates folders and installs computer data files using short filenames from the individual short|long file pairs listed in files or exact directory table. .
Applications must use the GetShortPathName function to get the short path form type of a given file path.
